Anul asta in septembrie, vor fi trecut doi ani de cand un muzician pe care l-am admirat enorm, a decis sa cante in “alta parte”. Pana sa cititi voi, dati un play la clipul de mai jos. E una din compozitiile lui cele mai memorabile, care va aminti mereu de cel care a fost Richard Wright.
Citind postul cu barul de negri al lupului alb, gandul m-a dus la Rick Wright (apropo de muzicieni si jazz). Compozitor si clapar in Pink Floyd (cu exceptia albumului The Final Cut), Wright a decedat pe 15 septembrie 2008 rapus de o forma de cancer. In mod ironic, ultima sa aparitie live a fost in cadrul unui concert tribut pentru Syd Barret.
Am regretat enorm trecerea sa in nefiinta, mai ales pentru ca speram ca anul trecut sa merg pe undeva prin Europa sa-l vad live alaturi de Gilmour. N-a fost sa fie din pacate. L-am admirat foarte mult pentru toate orchestratiile pe care le-a facut in Floyd, atat in perioada timpurie (vezi Echoes si unicul Shine On You Crazy Diamond), in perioada de mijloc (vezi Dark Side of the Moon), cat si in perioada tarzie din viata sa, atat pe Division Bell cat si in concertele din acest deceniu pe care le-a sustinut alaturi de David Gilmour.
Apropo de Gilmour, imi aduc aminte si acum “declaratia” pe care a facut-o presei referitor la decesul lui Wright. Cititi-o, merita!
“No one can replace Richard Wright. He was my musical partner and my friend. In the welter of arguments about who or what was Pink Floyd, Rick’s enormous input was frequently forgotten. He was gentle, unassuming and private but his soulful voice and playing were vital, magical components of our most recognised Pink Floyd sound. I have never played with anyone quite like him. The blend of his and my voices and our musical telepathy reached their first major flowering in 1971 on ‘Echoes’. In my view all the greatest PF moments are the ones where he is in full flow. After all, without ‘Us and Them’ and ‘The Great Gig in the Sky’, both of which he wrote, what would ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ have been? Without his quiet touch the album ‘Wish You Were Here’ would not quite have worked. In our middle years, for many reasons he lost his way for a while, but in the early Nineties, with ‘The Division Bell’, his vitality, spark and humour returned to him and then the audience reaction to his appearances on my tour in 2006 was hugely uplifting and it’s a mark of his modesty that those standing ovations came as a huge surprise to him, (though not to the rest of us). Like Rick, I don’t find it easy to express my feelings in words, but I loved him and will miss him enormously.”
Wright a adus un plus enorm in muzica Pink Floyd prin acordurile de jazz si sunetele experimentale si atmosferice care au creat acea adancime si spatialitate in sound-ul atat de unic al trupei. Pe langa aportul sau in PF, daca n-ati ascultat inca Broken China, cel de-al doilea album solo al sau, vi-l recomand cu caldura.
Nu am vrut sa fac un post chiar atat de lung. Nu de alta, dar n-aveam nimic nou de adaugat, n-am vrut sa-i fac biografia, nu nimic, am vrut doar sa va reamintesc ca la un moment dat, undeva, candva, a trait un om. Si poate … n-ar trebui sa-l uitam.
